About Me | Born in Palo Alto, California the son of Eugene and Fernita (McKillop) Goldrup, and raised in that state in the towns of Los Altos (until 5), Sonoma (up through my first year in high school, and Novato. Studied dramatics in junior college, went to Australia for two years and when returning resided in Marin County. Went through a period of being young and carefree, experienced what some refer to as the counter-culture before moving to southern California with my brother Tom to try and break into the crazy world of acting. Before moving I had a one-liner in MGM's Zabriskie Point, directed by Italian film director Antonioni. Studied at the Ivor Francis Acting Workshop and did a few bits and moved to Ben Lomond, Santa Cruz county, California around 1973. Had a video store with brother Tom that went out of business in 1991. Have traveled with brother Tom to various locales such as India, Europe, Morocco, Nepal, Canada, and across this country I live in a number of times. My favorite spot I had been to is the village of Jharkot, high in the Himalayas in Nepal, a short distance from Tibet. The highest I have been physically was a little over 18,000 feet in Ladakh, northern India, and the lowest I suppose was in Death Valley, California. I love the theatre, performing on stage, and the last film I appeared in was a small role in a film produced by the Mormon Church about Joseph Smith, in which both Tom and I played a couple of no-goods harassing Joseph Smith from outside his jail cell window. That scene was also used in a film called Emma Smith - My Story. Along with brothers Ray and Tom, we have organized a film company and are currently trying to raise the backing for a project written by brother Ray (who has won awards for his screen and teleplay writing) entitled On Broken Wings, which Tom and I will also act in. I, along with brother Tom, have written five books, four in a series which we self published called Feature Players, the Stories Behind the Faces (each book containing forty of the featured players from the films and television shows which were seen in the Golden Age of Hollywood (their stories based on personal interviews). The fifth book was through a publisher called Growing Up on the Set, in which features forty players stories based on personal interviews. My oldest brother Bill lives in Florida. I've enjoyed life and am grateful for the parents I had and the upbringing they gave me. Without that and my religious beliefs, I have no idea where I would be today, or even if I would have lived this long. I love animals (in fact, I love them so much that I don't eat them) and had enjoyed the pets I had and the bond I had with my two dogs, a german shepard named Runt and a black lab named Pearl. To me, family and friends are important. And as far as my political feelings, I can sum...(read more) |
